Flying on Borrowed Time

Nigerian airlines are drowning. Over N60 billion borrowed from local banks just to buy fuel.

Captain Roland Iyayi of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) says some carriers owe this simply to keep planes flying.

Ticket revenue now goes straight to fuel, not to NCAA remittances. Raise prices too much, passengers vanish. Refuse to fly, the economy stalls. Government inaction on fuel costs is the real crisis here. Nigerian aviation is bleeding quietly
