Aviation Workers Call Airports Concession A Threat To National Security, Economic Terrorism

Nigeria Aviation Workers under the umbrella of Air Transport  Services Senior Staff  Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) and the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP)  have described government planned Airports Concession as “Economic Terrorism” against the country.

The groups which insisted that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) “must survive” despite all her enemies, in a letter jointly signed by  ATSSSAN, NUATE and NUP, entitled, “Mass Movement for the Survival of FAAN”, reportedly  indicated that, all is not well with the Aviation industry in Nigeria.

This, concerned experts said is a recipe for disaster in the aviation sector and a serious National Security threat.

The letter reads in part, “As you are aware of the persistent plans to concession the Nigerian Airports, FAAN workers say No to Airports concession. Airports Concession is a threat to National Security. Concession is aimed at killing the 17 Local Airports and is an Economic Terrorism.”

The Workers accused the Ministry of Aviation, under Senator Hadi Sirika of “undue interference” in the management of the Aviation sector, which they  claimed is the “main bane of FAAN’s retarted growth.”

This is as they called on the Federal government under President Muhammadu Buhari to “review all FAAN existing Concession Agreement, such as Bi-Courtney, Avitech and I-Cube” and so on.
